Purpose:
The purpose of the Professional Affairs Committee is to develop an action program to encourage mutual respect and cooperation within the profession and to promote women in education. The committee shall study and recommend action on professional issues and shall urge the state organizations to initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interest of education and women eduators.
Professional Affairs Goals for 2011 - 2013 Biennium:
- Encourage chapters to celebrate their members achievements both educational, professional and community accomplishments.
- Initiate or continue a mentor program for new teachers.
- Encourage members to apply for scholorships and grants.
- To promote throughout the year DKG purposes at school meetings, inservice, retirement luncheons, and other community functions by having a table with handouts.
- To encourage chapter members to apply for grants and apply to Staff Development scholarships to further their growth and education.
Recommendations
To encourage chapter members to provide programs by inviting community speakers
to enhance their professional growth.
